It has been a long time since I played. I remember I had constructed a building that made charcoal for me. I don't remember the specs. and can't seem to find it anywhere. Will some one please share the building specs. please? I remember it was at least 3x3, but I don't remember the height, the door I needed and if there was a trap door on top.

I have done the charcoal pits exactly how the wiki and every other tutorial states and i have not been able to get it to work, once the fire pit is lit and fully covered i wait 10 min and nothing has happened only the fire pit has turned off. Please help! thanks

Hi! ive just recently been playing TFC and have managed to understand the wiki on how to play this mod using some of its guides. Recently however,ive been having trouble understanding how to make a charcoal pit To my understanding the charcoal pit is made by filling logs in a 5x5 hole without the corners and the center, then above the center in a second layer also make a 3x3 hole without filling in the center again. Then make a fire pit in the center as so... Sky view: o=logs D=logs in 2nd layer X=fire pit ooo oDDDo oD XDo oDDDo ooo (sorry it's terrible...never made one of these before... ) Then as a tip to save time some the wiki suggest having covered the logs with sand before covering the center.....thing is... covering the center is my problem ! Im unable to shift-right click a log on the side of another one above the fire pit (X) to cover the hole (as ive seen tutorials on making a charcoal pit in TFC older versions), whenever i try covering the center with another block such as dirt/sand the gravity of them makes them go down destroying the fire pit any help? Unable to shift-click the log on a log in the 2nd layer to cover the block on top of the fire pit

I am using the latest version of TFC (78.16) and I cannot get charcoal pits to work. I light the firepit and seal up the pit and I see smoke particles coming through the top of the pit as expected. However, when the smoke particles stop many hours later and I open up the pit, I do not find charcoal. Most of the log piles in the pit are untouched and the log pile above the firepit is gone. I have tried about 10 different charcoal pit configurations both with dirt and building a permanent structure with bricks and a door. I have even tried the simplest charcoal pit of a firepit with one log pile above multiple times. I have never gotten any charcoal from any of the pit designs I have tried. Addtionally, I have noticed that the firepit sometimes lights itself on fire automatically. The firepit is cold and no logs in it, but when I try to place a log pile above it the first log falls into the firepit and it will start a fire before I can close the pit. In this situation I did not light the firepit with a firestarter, but it started itself of its own accord. Please help me. I love this mod so far, but this bug is driving me crazy and is incredibly frustrating. Everything else seems to work as it should from the wiki and from Youtube videos except the charcoal pit.

I'm a little embarrassed to be posting this problem because cavemen managed to get these things working but I cannot...My charcoal pits burn forever. I set them up and get the black smoke particles coming off the top, (so I know they are working,) but the pits never turn any of the wood into charcoal. I've played for hours in the same world and in the same area and the thing just keeps burning. I set up a second pit to see if I could reproduce the problem, (and because I need charcoal). The second pit just keeps burning too. I eventually ripped open the first one and found a bunch of logs still inside. Have I done something wrong. Do the pits now take a lot longer than they did before?

If I make a charcoal pit it creates charcoal but I can't see it. I can harvest it normally but there is no graphic for it. If I place charcoal manually I can see it. I am not using any mods besides TFC [b69]. Forge 6.4.1.401 Player API 1.4.5. Any ideas? Does this happen to anyone else?
